ABOUT
Shimmer the Glowworm THE MUSICAL is fundamentally about uplifting yourself through inspiring others. This fun musical performance is a journey of self-discovery, insight, and recognizing one’s inherent value. A 45-minute Jr. Musical is designed for the attention span of young children & also fits into an assembly period. It includes 4 character songs & theme song SHOW YOUR GLOW.
CAST
It supports a cast of 6 main characters, up to 8 supporting characters, and an unlimited ensemble cast of glowworms, woodland flowers, butterflies, and a rainbow.
MUSIC
There is opportunity for fun choreography from hip hop, breakdancing, to jazz. Each song is a different musical genre, based on the character.
UNIQUE THEATER EXPERIENCE
The performance is designed as a theatre in the round to encourage audience participation. It takes place both on the stage for Shimmer’s journey, and in the audience as the glowworm cave.
AUDIENCE INVOLVEMENT
It begins and ends in the audience “cave.” There is opportunity for audience reply during several scenes. The show ends in the audience “glowworm cave” as the “SHOW YOUR GLOW” song is sung with all the cast members dancing. The audience is invited to participate in this happy celebration.
SET
The stage comes to light with the many glowing colors of the glowworms, and set decor. There are instructions and tips for set pieces that can be constructed easily, however this show also supports a fully professional set design and lighting.
